FIFTY BY US FRIEND

 RAMDAT HARIHAR and his company R & C Apparel.

Ramdat Harihar, who says people often call him Rambo, runs and owns R&C Apparel, on the West Side of Midtown Manhattan's Fashion district.

For the past 35 years,  Mr. Harihar's company has maintained a top quality business of producing fine trims, edges, pleats, and fine finishes, by hand, and in their most traditional fashion . 

Fifty By US visited his factory workshop.

All 20 employees were in full swing, each working on different projects, and achieving beautiful results. 

Mr. Harihar introduced us to the collection of about 50 vintage machines, some up and running like new, others wrapped in plastic, awaiting the need for their lost art to be called upon.

For our BALLROOM MARFA, NEW YORK CITY BENEFIT;

Mr. Harihar donated about 1000 feet of pleated paper. 

Pleats 

are created by placing fabric between two sheets of thick tissue paper, and then rolled through gear-like teeth under high heat. The result is an accordion like fold.

The paper which can also be reused, is often donated to lampshade manufacturers to be used as packing material, and to automotive garages as highly absorbatant material for oils and grease.

Our use of the paper will be revealed in the designs for the 

BALLROOM MARFA BENEFIT, April 12th
